Eight seafarers are missing after a cargoship sank off China.
A Chinese navy ship rescued two of the 10 crew from the 1,600-dwt Jian Hong No 1 (built 1980) off Wenzhou on Sunday night, Taiwan News said.
The navy said in a statement that its vessel Jinan was sent to the scene after receiving a report that the cargoship was sinking, the Xinhua news agency reported.
One of the two men rescued is Taiwanese and the other is Indonesian.
The vessel was carrying sugar from Taiwan to Korea.
Lifejackets spotted
The navy said several floating life jackets had been spotted in the sea.
Taiwan News said the Taiwanese crewman was close to death when he was rescued.
It reported the ship was chartered by a Taiwanese company, Juipang Co.
The crew also consisted of four more Indonesians and four Myanmarese.
Equasis lists the flag of the ship as in dispute and the owner as Zhang Hong Shipping of Taiwan.
It was detained in Hong Kong in 2017 with 48 deficiencies.
