Vietnam has arrested the former chairman of state-owned Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) for alleged abuse of power, according to police.
Nguyen Ngoc Su "abused his rank and position", Vietnam's ministry of public security said in a statement on its website.
Su was accused of using Vinashin's deposit in domestic lender Ocean Bank to make profits for some individuals at the company, police said, according to Reuters.
SBIC is the former Vinashin.
In 2017, two former Vinashin Ocean executives were sentenced to death after an embezzlement trial.
Giang Kim Dat and Tran Van Liem were the former business manager and director-general of the subsidiary of Vinashin.
The group nearly collapsed under huge debts run up during the financial crisis of the last decade.
A Hanoi court convicted the duo of personally banking VND 260bn ($11.3m) from shipping deals made between 2006 and 2008.
