Two Greek tug firms announced a cooperation agreement with a view to boost their presence in Greece and an ambition to expand abroad.
The consortium of the Spanopoulos Group and Vernicos Aegean tugs will control a fleet of 80 tug and salvage vessels. This “makes it the largest fleet in the Mediterranean for towage and salvage”, the partners said in a statement.
Aegean tugs was formed early last year , as a joint venture of owners Vernicos, Karapiperis and Lyboussakis.
The Spanopoulos Group of companies was founded 50 years ago and offers a wide range of services, from marine construction and shipbuilding to salvage, towage and harbour services.
