Eight seafarers that were seized from a German multi-purpose vessel a month ago have been released.
The seven Russians and one Ukrainian who were taken hostage from the 6,500-dwt BBC Caribbean (built 2008) are now in Frankfurt.
The commission for human rights praised the actions of shipmanager Briese Schiffahrts and the Russian consulate that helped resolve the situation.
It remains unclear whether the company had to pay a ransom. Further comment has been sought from the German owner.
The seafarers are reportedly in good health and are expected to return home at the end of the week.
Pirates attacked BBC Caribbean in early February off the coast of Nigeria.
