A worker has died and another has been injured in an accident at Germany’s Blohm+Voss shipyard.
The incident reportedly took place while the men were on a scaffold around the 28,600-gt Fred Olsen cruiseship Black Watch (built 1992).
Firefighters said a support came loose and trapped one of the men, according to the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper.
The second victim was also hit and was taken to hospital with a serious injury.
Blohm+Voss confirmed one person was found dead at the scene by the rescue team.
“Both casualties are employees of a partner company. The accident is currently being investigated by the criminal investigation department,” it added.
“Blohm+Voss deeply regrets this tragic accident. Our thoughts and compassion are with the relatives of the deceased and the injured.”
