George Dranganoudis has been appointed chief executive of specialist derivatives brokerage Freight Investor Services (FIS).
He succeeds the firm’s founder, John Banaszkiewicz, who will continue as chairman and will remain involved in growing the company.
Dranganoudis joins from TP ICAP, where he has spent all his career, rising to become deputy chief executive of its energy and commodities business.
He has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry including foreign exchange and money markets, energy and commodities.
Banaszkiewicz, who started FIS in 2002, said Dranganoudis would drive FIS’ “growth agenda in current and new markets”.
“His vast experience and proven leadership in the financial services and commodity sectors make him uniquely qualified to guide FIS through the complexities of volatile freight and commodity markets,” Banaszkiewicz said.
“His great experience working in key global localities with a wide range of clients and staff will be an invaluable new asset for our international company.”
FIS said the hire follows “an extensive and rigorous search process”.
Dranganoudis, who has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years, will spend the next few weeks working with Banaszkiewicz before the formal handover begins.
Dranganoudis said: “I am excited to be joining an innovative firm, who prioritises client service and who values its brokers.
“I look forward to working with our talented staff across the globe, who will be key to our expansion into new products and markets.”
