DSME has continued its efforts to monetise assets with the sale of a ship architecture division.
The South Korean shipbuilder is disposing of DSEC for KRW 70bn ($58.1m), a statement confirmed.
DSME has been mulling the sale of the subsidiary for the past few months and hired law and accounting firms to oversee the sale process in mid-August.
DSEC won a $116m contract for a ro-ro pair ordered by Matson and built at General Dynamics Nassco earlier this year.
Another division that DSME is reportedly looking to offload is its Chinese producer of ship parts DSME Shandong.
DSME has reported big losses over the last quarters due to reduced ordering activity in what has been a historically weak period for shipbuilders globaly.
Good news for the shipyard came earlier this week, with its biggest customer John Angelicoussis ordering an FSRU in a potential KRW 700bn deal.
DSME’s Okpo Shipyard has been tasked with the construction of the unit by early 2020.
