Klaveness Combination Carriers has added to its newbuilding orderbook with a further vessel at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding.

The Oslo-listed shipowner has taken its tally of CLEANBU units at the Chinese yard to six after firming up an option today.

Lasse Kristoffersen said in a statement the company was well positioned to capitalize on the improving product tanker and dry bulk markets.

Equity to fund the latest vessel is already in place, while three of the new six newbuidlings have debt financing secured.

Calls to Kristoffersen seeing further comment were unanswered at the time of writing.

The move was announced on the same day as the shipowner reported a third quarter profit of $1.3m.

Engebret Dahm, managing director Klaveness Combination Carriers, said the company delivered positive results despite a weak product tanker market and a mediocre dry bulk market.
