Oslo-listed Klaveness Combination Carriers (KCC) has stretched another deal to keep its fleet busy in tanker trades.

The company said it has extended one of its main caustic soda contracts of affreightment (COAs) by 12 months from 1 July.

The deal covers the "wet" capacity of one or 1.5 Cabu combination carriers, which can also transport dry bulk.

KCC's total fixed-rate tanker market coverage is around 90% for the second quarter of 2020, and with this COA the coverage increases to about 60% for the second six months, and around 20% for the first half of 2021.

Earlier this month, the owner signed a three-year caustic soda COA to Australia.

This covered half its Cabu fleet capacity.

KCC has been increasing wet market coverage in the past few weeks in strong markets.

This week it said an 83,500-dwt Cleanbu carrier, one in a series of eight which transport oil products and dry bulk cargoes, has been fixed from May for between nine and 12 months.

Before that, another Cleanbu ship was fixed on a three-month to six-month deal starting before the end of April.
