Oil major Shell is shutting down a major Nigerian offshore oil field for maintenance for one month, which will cut tanker liftings in half.

The Bonga field produces about 200,000 barrels per day of oil, accounting for a little under 10% of Nigeria's capacity. Oil from the field is delivered to the Shell-owned Bonga FPSO for loading to tankers.

Local media say crude oil liftings from the Bonga FPSO will drop to three next month, compared to seven in January. Gas from the Bonga field is piped the NLNG facility for export. There are no reports of fewer liftings from that facility.
