A Palmali Shipping tanker will remain under arrest in Denmark due to unpaid bunker bills, despite reports of its imminent release.
The TV2 website cited Russian sources as saying the Turkish owner informed the ITF union that it intended to pay crew on the 19,800-dwt Natig Aliyev (built 2002), and other unspecified debts, on 16 July.
TradeWinds understands there is still an outstanding bunker fuel bill owed to Lukoil trading unit Litasco. This needs to be paid, or security needs to be posted, before the ship can leave Aalbaek bay.
Alternatively, a buyer could be found for the vessel, which has been detained since February.
The Russian unit of Palmali is currently undergoing a bankruptcy process, but has vowed to revive its fortunes.
Litasco has also seized Palmali's 19,800-dwt Bozdag (built 2002) in Tallinn, Estonia.
