The administrators of failed British travel conglomerate All Leisure Group (ALG) have confirmed that the two cruise brands, Swan Hellenic Cruises and Voyages of Discovery, have been sold to G Adventures, although no ships have been included in the deal.

G Adventures has bought the brand names and intellectual property, which frees it from having to take on any liabilities that the two firms might have incurred while under ALG ownership.

The new owner this week said that it would have Swan Hellenic up and running by 2018.

As TradeWinds was going to press there were strong suggestions in the market that G Adventures was lining up a deal to either buy or charter the 12,900-gt cruiseship Minerva (built 1996), a vessel that Swan Hellenic has operated for many years on long-term charter from Artica Adventure & Cruise Shipping, a company closely connected to shipmanager V.Ships.

Administrators Grant Thornton also indicated that negotiations were underway to sell ALG’s 15,400-gt Voyager (built 1990), although they did not say whether G Adventures was in the running. The Voyager last operated for Voyages of Discovery but is currently idle in Singapore.

Toronto-based G Adventures owns and operates the 6,300-gt ice-classed cruiseship Expedition (built 1972).
