Dutch authorities have seized 90,000 vodka bottles believed to have been destined for Kim Jong-un's North Korean regime.

They were acting on a tip off from Hamburg that led them to board a Chinese vessel in Rotterdam, the BBC reported.

UN sanctions forbid the import of luxury items like the Russian booze.

The unnamed's vessel destination was listed as China, but the Dutch foreign ministry said they suspected it would ultimately head to Pyongyang.

The ship had between 8,000 and 9,000 containers on board.

The vodka was found hidden underneath an aeroplane fuselage being carried on the vessel.
