Agnieszka Acar has been appointed as managing director of EMS-Fehn-Group’s shipping company, EMS Chartering.
She succeeds Manfred Muller, who died unexpectedly in May at the age of 56.
“With her professional experience and her in-depth knowledge of all areas of shipping, she was our first choice for this position,” Dominic Sleur, chief operating officer of EMS-Fehn-Group, said in a release on Wednesday.
Acar previously held the position of general manager at EMS Chartering, which is the exclusive broker for EMS-Fehn-Group’s fleet of six general cargo vessels.
The fleet carries dry bulk, breakbulk and project cargoes on both shortsea and deepsea trades.
She started her professional career as an apprentice at EMS Chartering in 2008 and remained with the company as a shipbroker specialising in project cargoes.
Since then, Acar has built up a specialism in services to major players in the wind industry, among other key accounts, according to EMS.
Muller joined the Leer-based group in 2008 as partner and managing director, and is credited with expanding the business.
“We are not only losing an outstanding entrepreneur but first and foremost an extraordinary person,” Heiko Luikenga, founder and main shareholder of EMS-Fehn-Group, said after Muller’s passing. “He had clear convictions, pursued his goals with determination, and had a modest demeanour.”
The EMS-Fehn-Group consists of 18 logistics companies all across Europe across trucking, port terminals and high-performance cranes.
