Oslo-based bulker owner Vincent Shipping appears to be looking for attractive asset play deals.
But the company has sharply denied reports that it is ordering three new ultramaxes in China.
“We have no plans of doing so,” said chief executive Jan Lund. “We have definitely not ordered newbuildings anywhere and have no plans of doing so.”
Earlier this year, Vincent Shipping sold the 56,000-dwt Vincent Gemma (built 2010) to China’s Nanjing King Ship Management reportedly for $9.8m.
The vessel is likely worth some $2m less than that today.
The Norwegian company has bought a handful of similar bulkers.
The company was set up in 2016 by Fearnleys veteran Lund, former Torm chief executive Klaus Kjaerulff and Jan Bech Andersen, who had been head of shipping at trader Glencore.
Vincent Shipping is located at Bergehus, the former headquarters of Bergesen DY.
