Unionised workers at Korean shipbuilder DSME have walked out over plans to merge the company with Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

They staged a four-hour strike on Tuesday, Aju News reported.

This took place after their lunch break and involved 2,000 workers marching in the streets after a rally at the yard in Geoje.

HHI union leaders have not yet revealed a timetable for action of their own.

DSME's main shareholder Korea Development Bank has ruled out major redundancies arising from the merger.
