Carisbrooke Shipping Holdings chief executive Helen Tveitan de Jong has become the second Ardmore Shipping director to cash in on the shipowner’s share price rise.

De Jong, who joined the Ireland-based product tanker owner’s board in 2018, sold 6,500 shares through a broker, banking $105,040, according to a US securities filing.

The experienced executive is chair of New York-listed Ardmore’s audit committee.

Her day job involves running Anglo-Dutch owner Carisbrooke’s fleet of around 30 mini-bulk and project cargo ships.

Fellow director Mats Berglund, the former Pacific Basin CEO, has also sold Ardmore’s stock in the past few days.

He disposed of 10,000 shares, raising $163,500.

Ardmore’s shares closed down 2% at $15.90 on Friday.

But the stock was worth just $6 five years ago and started 2024 at $14.

Berglund and de Jong’s exact shareholdings are not public.

Experienced executive

All Ardmore directors and executives owned less than 1% as a group as of 23 May last year, according to the annual 20-F filing.

De Jong has worked in shipping since 1992 and began her career in ship finance with DVB Nedship Bank, for which she started the branch office in London in 1996.

From 2001, she held several positions as finance director for shipping companies, most notably for Eastern Bulk between 2010 and 2017.

She is also non-executive director at UK-listed bulker owner Taylor Maritime Investments.
