Norway's Rederiet Stenersen had increased its profit and revenue last year, according to a just-released annual report.

The chemical tanker owner increased revenue by 26% to NOK 706m ($78.4m) last year.

The Bergen-based company turned a profit of NOK 76m last year, reversing a loss of NOK 79m in 2018.

The improvements came after Stenersen took delivery in 2018 of the 17,500-dwt newbuildings Sten Tor and Sten Odin (both built 2018) from Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding in China.

Finance director Sigve Stenersen told the Norwegian financial daily Finansavisen that the company's result has improved further in 2020.

He expressed confidence that the full-year result will show further growth, though he stressed that there are uncertainties over effects of the coronavirus.

The company has a fleet of 18 chemical tankers between 13,000 dwt and 18,500 dwt that were all built in China.

The tankers in the Stenersen fleet are owned by limited partnership companies. Among the investors are Trond Mohn, Tore Odfjell and Lars Chr Wiese.

TradeWinds reported in January this year that the company was in the process of lining up an order for up to six dual-fuel chemical tankers at China's AVIC Dingheng Shipbuilding. The price tag was estimated price at $29m per tanker, but no such order has been finalised.
